Realizing the effects of being bombarded by social media messages, TV, peer, family and school pressures, the team decided to delve into the serious issues of teen depression and anxiety, which plague so many teenagers today. They conducted surveys of their peers as well as interviewed fellow students and professional adults familiar with these issues and their impacts on teenagers’ lives. The team hopes to present the film to other teen groups and middle schoolers throughout the school year.

With guidance from Executive Producer & Emmy Award-winning Youth Crossroads’ Masters level intern Dianne Ancona and support from her videographer Justin Kenealy, the team will inspire you with their finished film. Members of the Social Media Project Team include Associate Producers Marcoantonio Cervantes, Lucy Contreras, Michelle Roman, Cristian Moran, Isaac Saucedo, Sheila Sanchez, Brandy Valdes and Emmanuel Piña.

About the BDC’s Philanthropic Program
The Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC) provides charitable contributions to causes within the Berwyn community. The BDC makes awards to local not-for-profit public charities, giving priority to those efforts that positively impact economic vitality, provide services directly to beneficiaries, address root problems and serve disenfranchised groups. Berwyn headquartered not-for-profits can make application for funding throughout the year as needs arise with awards based upon available BDC funding. For more details regarding the philanthropic program, call the BDC at 708-788-8100 or visit berwyn.net.

Special thanks to the BDC’s Trustees whose generous support help make these grants possible. These investors include Byline Bank, MacNeal Hospital, Paisans Pizzeria & Bar, World’s Largest Laundromat, Turano Baking Company, Republic Bank of Chicago and Morning Noon Night Plumbing & Sewer.
