Downtown Oak Park's Green Halloween festivities run from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 13.
The annual event allows those around town to stop in participating businesses, churches and organizations along the Green Pumpkin Trail to participate in free kids' activities, costume swaps and collect healthy "eek-o-friendly treats." Costumes are optional for participants, and the event is suggested for ages 3-8.
The Great Pumpkin Trail begins at Grace Episcopal, 924 Lake St. At 10 a.m. there is a free showing of Gumby at Lake Theatre. Kids can come early to meet Gumby before the show.
A few activities of the event include a pumpkin patch where kids can purchase and decorate a pumpkin, silly and spooky storytimes and face painting at Oak Park Public Library, and Halloween storytime in Ten Thousand Villages, 121 N. Marion.
