The arrival of David Luke Crowe. | Submitted photo

West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park celebrated its first birth of the New Year on Jan. 1, with the arrival of David Luke Crowe. Born at 7:05 a.m., Crowe weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and stood 19.5 inches tall (or would if he could stand).

“I am definitely surprised that David is the first baby of the New Year born at West Suburban,” Crowe’s mother, Nerissa Crowe, of Maywood, said in a statement released by hospital officials. “I usually am several weeks early.”

David is the fifth child born to Nerissa and her husband, Jeremy Crowe. Their other children are Micah James, 12; Josiah Thomas, 11; Caris Lucia, 9; and Caleb Andrew, 4.

“We named all of our children with a first name from the Old Testament and a middle name from the New Testament,” said Jeremy, who is a pastor at Armitage Baptist Church in Albany Park.
