An essay contest sponsored by Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle will award a $3,500 scholarship to support the winner's first year of college.
The first annual 2019 Black History Month Essay Contest "recognizes a senior in high school who writes an impactful 500-1,000 word essay on a topic related to Black History Month," Preckwinkle's office explained. "The essay should answer the question, 'Who or what inspires you in honor of Black History Month?'"
The deadline to apply for the essay contest is Feb. 14.
To access the application, visit https://www.cookcountyil.gov/ and type "Essay Contest" in the search engine. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Josh Harris, director of External Affairs, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
