Oak Park, IL – Smartypants Trivia Night invites the community to step up to the challenge, compete for glory and prizes, and support a great cause. The fifth annual after-hours competition will be held at 7 pm, Saturday, March 1, at Oak Park Public Library, 834 Lake St.

Teams of 4 to 6 are invited to register for this annual fundraiser, presented in collaboration with the Friends of the Oak Park Public Library. Admission is $40 per person, and includes two free drinks, refreshments and snacks. Cash bar will also be available.

Childrens librarian, quiz mistress, and returning host, Rory Parilac, provides five rounds of tough trivia to stimulate even the most well-rounded team. Categories have included tricky general knowledge topics ranging from local history to world politics, from geography to celebrity, from inventions to last words. Last year’s teams were challenged to “name that spice” by engaging their senses, including taste, and identify books by just an inch of their covers. You never know what you’ll have to do to prove you’re a Smartypants.

Doors open at 6:15 pm. Trivia begins promptly at 7 pm. Additional seating in the Main Library Art Gallery has been added to meet demand and welcome more participants. Register your team now at http://oppl.org/trivia. Team costumes are encouraged, but not required.

Prizes and medals will be awarded to the top three teams. Additional prizes will be awarded for best team costumes and other fun categories.

Registration ends February 21 or when space is filled. Previous Smartypants have sold out well in advance of the registration deadline.
