What kind of walker are you
Walk for kitchens, walk for wine, walk around a flea market, or just want to walk on a greener earth?

By Maria Murzyn
Whether you are thinking of a complete kitchen redo, or a few spruce-ups, or just dreaming, come to the 27th Annual KITCHENWALK on Saturday, April 28 from 10am - 4pm. You'll tour ten fabulous Oak Park and River Forest kitchens including the working kitchen of Chef Denise Norton, owner of Flavour Cooking School -and receive treats from the Marion Street Cheese Market. All proceeds benefit Parenthesis Family Center, and you can get your tickets at www.parenthesis-info.org or call 708-848-2227. You can also get your tickets on Saturday at the Buzz Cafe, Flavour Cooking School, Marion Street Cheese Market, Magic Tree Bookstore, Moss Modern Flowers, and Rave Wines.
Speaking of wine, come over to Forest Park from 1 - 5pm for the April 28th Wine Walk & Shop. You'll meet at Constitution Court, 7430 W. Madison for an afternoon of wine tastings, visits to some of the area's unique boutiques and specialty shops, and sample many of Madison Street's great restaurants' appetizers. This event is put together by Famous Liquors and the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce. Call 708-366-2500 for reservations.
Another Forest Park event on April 28th is the Family Garage Sale & Flea Market which runs from 9am - 2pm at the Park, 7501 W. Harrison. They expect 40 or more vendors and you. Rain date is Sunday, April 29th. More info at 708-366-7500. You may find just what you need from your KITCHENWALK inspirations right here.
On the other hand, if you think we all have too much stuff and need to get realistic about conserving our planet, or if you just enjoy documentaries and short films, this is the weekend for you. The Green Film Festival Program of Short Films & Discussion continues through Sunday, April 29th at a variety of local venues. Check the full schedule of titles and times and screening places at their website www.greencommunityconnections.org/one-earth-film-fest .
