"The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot is a fascinating examination of this woman's life.  The author has been interviewed on many tv programs, NPR, and her book is one of Oprah's favorites.  It's also on all the best-seller lists.  The author tells the story of Ms. Lacks whose cells were taken, without her permission and knowledge, by her doctors.  The cells never died, and they launched a medical revolution and a mult-million-dollar industry - unbeknownst to her children.  When they did find out, their lives were changed.  Come learn more and join the discussion at the Maze Branch of the Oak Park Library, on Wednesday, January 19th at 7 pm.  More info at 708-386-4751 or visit www.oppl.org .
