Founded in 1924, the Amity Children’s Aid Foundation is a local organization dedicated to helping public school children in Oak Park and River Forest. Eyeglasses, hearing aids, shoes, winter coats and other essentials, Amity provides for families in need.
The children’s nonprofit raises money throughout the year including their annual luncheon and fashion show. This year, the runway featured apparel and accessories from Oak Park’s boutiques: Sugarcup Trading, Sanem’s, York Furrier, Boho Chic at Shirt works, and Muse.
Local vendors met stylish guests with tables of merchandise for sale. Prior to the luncheon, guests could bid on a silent auction, as well as buy raffle tickets and sign up for membership to the organization.
The President, Myra Price, along with Amity’s volunteer members, introduced the recipient of Amity’s Outstanding Citizen Award: LaVerne Collins, owner of GLA Property Management in Oak Park, an Amity member for 7 years. La Verne spoke of her background as an Optician, witnessing first hand how Amity helped a little girl realize her dream of seeing ‘Beauty & the Beast’ with her new eye glasses.
On trend, bright colors, cute floral dresses & separates from Sugarcup Trading’s childrens apparel, were modeled to perfection by: Mia, Katherine, Aiden, Beau, Shay & Maggie – with the themes: Tea time in England, Spring time in Paris, Night time & Play time in Barcelona.
Sanem’s collection featured versatile garments in bold color blocking, printed denim & patterned, summery dresses. Jackets in unconventional shapes & materials were sent down the runway, as well as the perfect new neutral: metallic accessories.
Boho Chic fuses art with fashion to create a distinctive line of unique tops and dresses for a fashion forward client.
From snakeskin printed shorts to the essential LBD (little black dress) in the very current maxi length, and pastel floral tops, Muse presented a showcase of flattering looks for all body types & ages. Clutch handbags & a mix of textured accessories provided a fearless statement.
York Furrier presented a sampling of designer & signature styles, from fitted Italian leather jackets, chic cashmere capes, trench coats in bright tangerine, the ‘It color’, to fashionable sheared mink furs, elegantly trimmed in Russian sable. Attendees discovered an array of gorgeous outerwear with models strolling the catwalk in casual styles for daytime drama or evening elegance and everything in between.
During this fashionable fundraiser, we were inspired to join the women of the Amity Foundation to share our resources, raise funds to aid local children and support families in need. For more information about Amity or to become a member call: (708) 383-9165.
