Oak Park police are investigating a shooting Friday afternoon near the intersection of Madison Street and East Avenue. The incident left one man with gunshot wounds to the leg. Police believe the shooting was targeted and of no further threat to the community.

Following reports of multiple shots fired, police arrived at the scene at 1:11 p.m., Aug. 26, where they found the victim, a 26-year-old man from Chicago, according to the Village of Oak Park.

Witnesses told police the offenders exited a dark SUV shortly after the victim left a nearby business. The offenders were last seen fleeing in the SUV, entering the Eisenhower Expressway at Austin Boulevard.

The victim was transported to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood and is in stable condition. The injuries are reportedly non-life-threatening.

No other injuries were reported, but a local business was damaged after being struck by the gunfire.
