Some readers of my recent essay on Rush Limbaugh [Soliloquy on Rush Limbaugh, Viewpoints, July 21] mistakenly interpreted it to indicate that I felt favorably about this radio celebrity. This likely involved an understandable misreading of the last line: “Rush, we miss you.”

The line was meant to be a continuation of thoughts attributed to his “average devoted listener,” referenced previously — not a reflection of my own feelings.

I personally feel that the world is just a slightly better place with Limbaugh off the air.
