Is Mitch McConnell the consummate face of hypocrisy?
Although Donald J. Trump was impeached in the House while still in office, Mitch McConnell refused to start the Senate phase of the impeachment trial until after Inauguration, even going so far as to say that he would turn away the House Managers if they attempted to deliver the Articles of Impeachment before Jan 20. Then McConnell refused to convict in the Senate, even though he admitted Trump was culpable for the coup, on the basis that his hands were tied because the Senate trial was being held after ex-president DJT left office.
Up until now, the definitive example of hypocrisy is that of a man appearing in court after killing his parents, and then pleading for mercy on the grounds of being an orphan.
Well Mitch McConnell’s argument ranks right up there.
