Positive COVID-19 cases continue to make their way through Oak Park as another 123 residents tested positive over the past week, according to the Oak Park Department of Public Health. Those who tested positive range in age from “less than 20 into their 90s” based on the village’s COVID-19 bulletin.
River Forest had 17 new cases of COVID-19 compared with the previous week where the village reported 32 positive cases.
Oak Park’s 14-day rolling positivity rate is now 6.43 percent, according to Northwestern University’s COVID-19 database. The village is also averaging 17 new cases of COVID-19 a day.
After a week where it had an 11.4 percent positivity rate, River Forest’s 7-day positivity rate dropped to 4.63 percent. In an email to River Forest residents on Jan. 14, Village President Catherine Aducci said the previous week’s uptick in cases “could be related to gatherings over the holidays.”
While there were no deaths in long-term care and assisted living facilities in Oak Park over the past week, staff members and residents did test positive for COVID-19.
Belmont Village of Oak Park had two new staff cases for a total of 33 since the start of the pandemic. Oak Park Arms had three staffers and three residents test positive for COVID-19. The Arms now has had 16 resident and eight staff cases overall. Oasis of Oak Park had two staffers and one resident test positive, totaling 23 residents and 14 staff cases since the start of the pandemic.
