I was not present at the Oak Park Plan Commission meeting on Dec. 16 when the chair, Iris Sims, resigned in the middle of the meeting. I am only aware of what Wednesday Journal reported concerning the comments of Ms. Sims and the other commissioners.

I can state that I was a member when Colette Lueck, and Linda Bolte chaired the commission. They were excellent moderators and during their terms, when we dealt with many contentious issues, the debate was always respectful. We disagreed and moved on.

What has changed? It was only 10-15 years ago, but they were much pleasanter times, when people could disagree without being disagreeable.
