Scholarship funds are available to assist low income individuals and families to participate in Park District of Oak Park programs. The Parks Foundation raises additional scholarship funds so that ALL community members who qualify can participate. In the past 5 years, the annual number of Oak Park residents awarded Park District scholarships grew by over 60%, from 318 to 511 people, all of whom were able to enjoy programs, pools, ice skating and more. The need for program assistance continues to grow. Here is what scholarship recipients say about the program:

“Because I received a scholarship, I was able to learn a new skill—stained glass crafting. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I hope to enroll in the class again, since it’s a skill I never want to forget. I want to build on what I’ve already learned. It’s an enjoyable class and hobby. (Plus, John Curran is an excellent teacher!)”

“My granddaughters loved participating in the gymnastics program.”

“Our daughter is very shy, and prior to starting Playschool at Field Center in the fall, she had little to no contact with other kids her age. Now her teachers say she has really come out of her shell, and she talks about all her friends at school when we pick her up. She is also learning to recognize letters and numbers, which is pretty impressive for a 2-year-old.”

“This program is such a wonderful part of our life. We are so grateful that scholarships are awarded. My child is healthier as a result.”
