Jim Cozzens, co-owner of Oak Park Brewing, 155 S. Oak Park Ave., announced the restaurant has entered a “temporary, but indefinite” closure. A stimulus package would expedite reopening, but without an infusion of cash the restaurant will remain closed until indoor dining restrictions are lifted or outdoor dining returns.
“Some restaurants may have better reserves than we do, but we were looking at our bank account and it was very clear we could no longer afford to stay open,” said Cozzens.
Concerned adjusting hours of operations would sow confusion among regular customers, Oak Park Brewing’s hibernation was an “all or nothing” decision for the brew-pub.
Cozzens notes the restaurant industry has been devastated by the pandemic, but his staff members were “remarkably understanding” about the closure.
