Pumpkinship: The Hart kids are following in Mom’s footsteps.
Here is my photo from October 1985 with nine pumpkins grown in my garden. Thirty-five years later, my three kids, Olivia, Madison, and William Hart, have grown 13 pumpkins, which they are selling for Housing Forward.
Here’s my original write-up in the DeKalb Chronicle, Oct. 29, 1985: “Betsy Hart, 6, of DeKalb shows off her nine pumpkins, each one complete with one or two missing teeth, that she not only carved, but also grew herself in her backyard garden. Betsy will be displaying her pumpkins through Halloween which creeps in on Thursday.
