Patricia M. Kostopulos (nee Morand), 87, a longtime resident of Oak Park, died peacefully at home on Oct. 7, 2020.
A lover of books, especially a good mystery, art, classical music, architecture, and, of course, one special architect, she was a longtime member and supporter of Ascension Church, where she served as an usher for over 20 years, and the Women’s Architectural League, where for years she tirelessly helped to raise money for scholarships for architecture students.
Patricia Kostopulos was the wife of the late Gus W. Kostopulos, architect and village trustee; the mother of Elaine (John Schmelzer), Margaret (Mas Takiguchi), Greg (Brenda Smith), Terese (Blake Beck), Peter (Holly Schupple), and William; grandmother of Kara Takiguchi (James Woyak), Jack Takiguchi, Max Schmelzer, and Katherine Takiguchi; great-grandmother of Gus Woyak; and aunt to many, including Barbara Reineking (Ted). She was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Joan Koslow (the late Jack Barry and the late Joe Koslow), and her brothers Walter (the late Ethel) and Paul (Kathy), as well as her parents, Walter and Doris Morand.
Services were private. Donations and memorials in her name should be made to Ascension Church in Oak Park, or the Friends of the Oak Park Public Library.
