Staff from My Block, My Hood, My City (M3) visited One Lake Brewing,  1 Lake St. in Oak Park, on Friday, Oct. 16 to taste the beer being sold to benefit the Chicago non-profit.

Nathaniel Viet-VanLear, program manager of the organization’s Explorer’s Program found One Lake’s Black German lager sold under the nationally recognized Black is Beautiful label to be “smooth and balanced.”

Owners of One Lake Brewing are donating 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the beer to the fast-growing, social impact organization whose mission is to provide “underprivileged youth with an awareness of the world and opportunities beyond their neighborhood.”

“Three breweries have selected our organization,” said Viet-VanLear. “This is a movement. The more attention and recognition we get the more we can grow and expose more youth to our programs.”
