On Oct. 9, Fitzgeralds, at 6615 Roosevelt Rd., closed temporarily after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19. The popular music venue will reopen after all staff working on-site are tested and receive negative results.

“This kind of experience is part of our new normal,” said owner Will Duncan. “But it is an easy choice when you are focused on community safety above everything else.”

The staff member is a part-time employee who tested positive on Oct. 9 and had not been on site for 12 days. Based on CDC guidelines, Duncan does not believe the employee was contagious during their last shift. The choice to close was made out of an abundance of caution.

“I don’t want to put an exact date on our reopening,” said Duncan. “Best-case scenario we’ll open sometime next week.”

Fitzgeralds followers applauded the decision on social media. Duncan is “truly touched by the warm response” and feels grateful for the public affirmation of his decision to take a wellness break.
