I liked your piece on Trump a lot [A kinder, gentler takedown of Donald Trump, Ken Trainor, Viewpoints, Aug. 5]. When he’s gone, our polity’s underlying sickness will be easier to focus on. He grew from it, thrived on it for a time, and because he himself is such a despicable character (in such a position of power), he has sucked up all of our attention. He has diverted us from facing serious problems festering in our democracy.
