Nancy Carol Schlacks, 81, a longtime resident of Oak Park, died on Aug. 8, 2020 in Hinsdale Hospital. A graduate of Trinity High School class of 1956 and St. Mary’s College of Notre Dame, class of 1960, in addition to raising a large family, she served as an on-call chaplain at West Suburban Hospital for 14 years. She and her husband Paul were founding members of the St. Giles Family Mass community. Most of all, she enjoyed her time with her family and friends, whether in Oak Park, or on the beach while at her beloved home in Palisades Park in Covert, Michigan, where she was a longtime summer, and later year-round, resident.
Nancy Schlacks is survived by H. Paul Schlacks, her husband of 58 years; her children, Erin (Tony) Evans, Howard “Howie” (Meegan), Julie (Chris) Schlacks-Duff, Peter and Andrew Schlacks; her grandchildren, Liam Campbell, Emily, Sarah, Maggie and Nora Schlacks, Charlie Duff, and Lucy Schlacks; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Joseph Madigan, and siblings Bette (the late Eugene) Morris and Joseph “J.D.” (the late Carol) Madigan Jr.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, a memorial Mass is being planned for, and will be announced at, a later date. Private interment will take place in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
