The intersection of Lake Street and Marion Street will be closed starting Monday, July 20 as part of the village of Oak Park’s Lake Street restoration project. The closure starts at or before 8 a.m. and will last 14 days.

During that time, construction crews will remove the existing intersection and construct a new brick intersection. Crews will also put in decorative crosswalks. Once completed, similar work will start at the intersection of Lake Street and Forest.

While the Lake Street and Marion Street intersection is closed, access to businesses and restaurants for pick ups will be maintained on Maple Street and Forest Avenue and in Lot 3 on Marion Street between Lake Street and North Boulevard.

People can access the downtown area and nearby parking structures from Ontario Street, Forest Avenue and North and South Boulevards. Through-traffic should follow the detour to Chicago Avenue using Harlem Avenue and Ridgeland Avenue.

Parking garages and surface parking are available at Holley Court, The Emerson, Eleven33 and Vantage, as well as at Chase Bank and Lots 3 and 10.
