Richard Maynard Glantz, 80, died peacefully on June 9, 2020. Born on Dec. 12, 1939 and raised in River Forest, he attended Oak Park and River Forest High School, then earned his bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. He had a successful career in civil engineering, particularly wastewater treatment.
He led an active and adventurous life. He enjoyed tennis, kayaking, whitewater rafting, and was always looking to try something new. He had a lifelong interest in sports cars and liked nothing better than to be on the road searching for his next adventure.
He never met a stranger, and would happily talk for hours about sports, cars, nature, politics, gardening, exotic pets, music, or any other topic. He was always outgoing and hated to be bored. He prided himself on keeping an open mind and accepting diverse points of view. He gave generously of himself and his talents, and his passing leaves a space in the hearts of his family and many friends.
Richard Glantz leaves behind his beloved daughter, Jennifer Kelley, her wife, Kathryn, and granddaughters Olivia Kelley and Marguerite Stanek.
Services and interment are private. Arrangements were handled by Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home.
