Larry Taylor, 71

Larry Taylor, 71, of Oak Park, died on June 14. Born on March 12, 1949 and raised on the West Side of Chicago, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired from the state of Illinois after 35 years of employment. A gifted painter and avid music listener, he also enjoyed fashion, fine arts, dance, and walks with his dog, Bailey. Known for his quick wit and silly sense of humor, he could even make a stranger crack a smile.

Larry is survived by Debra, his wife of 33 years, and his children, Laren and Breanne; his sisters, Charlene Harris, Larryne (Vance Ervin) Ghoston, Sharon (David) Butler, Rochelle Taylor, and Lethette (Henretta) Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Ruth Taylor, his brother Charles (Laralene) Harris, Phyllistine “Lois” Moore, and Pastor Ron (Johnnie) Taylor. He will be missed by many.

Visitation was held June 19 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Private interment took place at Concordia Cemetery.
