The village of River Forest has activated its Flood Response Plan because of rising water in the Desplaines River.

Chicago Avenue, from Thatcher Avenue to First Avenue, is closed due to high water levels and in anticipation of more rain, according to a message from the village of River Forest to residents.

Additionally, the village is constructing a flood wall as a precautionary measure to help “protect the village against the uncertainty of predicted weather and the rising river.”

More information is available on the village website at www.vrf.us/news/item/307. A map of the detour route is available at vrf.us/uploads/cms/documents/news/a9r5ede.pdf.
