Voting is our most basic right as American citizens. That’s why I volunteered to register student voters from November of last year through February of this year.

There are many things up in the air right now, but our democracy shouldn’t be. Experts estimate we need at least $4 billion to make sure states can prepare for elections in this time of the coronavirus. If not, millions of voters might be disenfranchised.

Congress already appropriated $400 million for this purpose, but voters need more options: expanded vote by mail, more early voting, and online voter registration.

Now Congress must authorize additional funding to ensure that, come November, we are prepared for this unprecedented threat. Please contact your congressional representative/senators and ask them to preserve our right to vote.

Congress must provide additional funding for elections in the next stimulus package.
