In light of the rapid spread of coronavirus nationally and constantly evolving impacts locally, River Forest’s trustees will vote on amending code to allow the village president to declare a state of emergency if needed. The vote will take place during a special village board meeting on March 16 at 9 a.m.
If voted for by the trustees, the change in code would authorize the village president during a declared state of emergency “to exercise, by executive order, such power of the village president and board of trustees as may be reasonably necessary to respond to the emergency.”
