I am not sure there is another physical object in Oak Park that demonstrates the total disrespect that District 97 shows to Oak Park taxpayers than the digital sign outside of Brooks Middle School. It has basically not said a darn thing except gibberish all school year, proving it was never a mission-critical purchase in the first place. It represents a 100 percent fleecing of the residents of Oak Park for a “want” vs. a “need.”

Yet no one thinks to at least turn it off! The energy wasted from this non-essential purchase continues to come directly out of the pocketbooks of the taxpayers. So the next time D97 tells us they have looked for every single way to save money, we will all have proof that this isn’t even close to the truth.
