At 6:48 p.m. on Dec. 31, according to police, a man and a woman were stopped in the middle of Taylor Street near Superior Street — police did not specify if the couple was in a vehicle or on foot — yelling profanities at another woman.
The man then allegedly spit at the other woman, an Oak Park resident, with his saliva landing on her eyeglasses. Police are treating the incident as battery. No one has been arrested at this time.
Robbery
An Oak Park resident called police on Dec. 30 at about 5:40 p.m. to report that someone approached, demanded property and then took the victim’s keys, causing the victim to fall, in the first block of Washington Boulevard.
Theft
Two men stole an unlocked, running vehicle parked in the 400 block of South Maple Avenue at about 5:35 p.m. on Dec. 29. The loss is estimated at $13,000.
A Honda CBR 600RR motorcycle was stolen from the 1100 block of Ontario Street between 8 a.m. on Dec. 19 and 5 p.m. on Dec. 30. Estimated loss is $10,000.
Burglary
Two broken televisions and a Dewalt power drill were stolen from an unlocked garage in the 1100 block of South East Avenue between midnight and 7 p.m. on Dec. 29. Estimated loss is $600.
Someone broke into a vehicle parked in the 900 block of South Grove Avenue between 3 p.m. Dec. 29 and 5 p.m. Dec. 30 and took CDs and an overhead garage opener. The offender then opened the garage, took cash from a second vehicle and stole a children’s bicycle.
Someone shattered the window of a vehicle parked in the 800 block of South Humphrey Avenue between 10 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 8:40 a.m. on Jan 2 and stole a black backpack containing miscellaneous books. The estimated loss is $150.
A Dyson V6 vacuum cleaner was stolen out of a garage with an open overhead door in the 300 block of Chestnut Lane on Dec. 30 between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Total loss is $171.77.
Books, a blanket, three plants, a stereo system, records, a charging station, Apple AirPods, an iPhone 6, an iPhone 7, a Nintendo 3DS and a bag containing a Lenovo X1 laptop were stolen out of an unlocked apartment in the 100 block of North Euclid Avenue between 8 p.m. on Jan 4 and 11 a.m. on Jan. 5. The total loss is estimated at $2,900.
Someone broke into a residence in the 200 block of Pleasant Street, possibly through a kitchen window, and took cash, a black Apple iPad Mini in a tan case, a pair of black binoculars with a case, an Xbox game console, two Xbox controllers and a silver HP laptop between 5:30 a.m. and 8:40 p.m. on Jan. 3. The estimated loss is $1,460.
A backpack containing a MacBook Pro laptop, an Apple iPad gift card and miscellaneous papers was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 1000 block of North Boulevard between 8:01 and 8:25 p.m. on Jan. 3. Estimated loss is $1,700.
Criminal damage to property
Someone damaged an Oak Park resident’s window by throwing a large piece of concrete at it at 1:20 a.m. on Jan. 2 in the 1100 block of Augusta Boulevard.
A person partially shattered the exterior windowpane of a garden apartment in the first block of Washington Boulevard between 4 p.m. Dec. 31 and 3:15 p.m. Jan. 1.
Someone broke into a vehicle and damaged its ignition while trying to steal it from the 900 block of South Boulevard between 6 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Jan 5.
A person threw a brick at the window of a residence in the 1000 block of South Euclid Avenue, damaging it, between midnight on Dec. 31 and 7:40 p.m. on Jan. 5.
These items, obtained from the Oak Park Police Department, came from reports Dec. 21, 2019 to Jan. 5, 2020 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public’s help in making an arrest.
