Since opening in 2009 Bodhi Thai Bistro, located at 6211 Roosevelt Road in Berwyn, has been turning out reliable Thai dishes using passion-driven freestyle cooking techniques. The cooking style ensures quick-thinking cooks are capable of creating all dishes to order. As a result, most Bodhi dishes are easily adaptable to vegan and vegetarian diets. The quaint restaurant flies lower under the radar on the Oak Park restaurant scene than some restaurants, but folks in the know enjoy this affordably priced, BYO establishment.

I popped by on Monday check out Bodhi’s lunch specials. The well appointed restaurant was filled with afternoon diners taking advantage of their budget-friendly menu. Between 11am and 3pm on Mondays and Wednesday-Friday hungry locals can get their hands on a three-course Thai lunch for just $8.95 including soup, appetizer and entree.

The soup of the day is typically features a flavorful house-made broth; on Monday it was studded with chicken, rice, celery and carrot, but the garnishes can vary by the day. On the appertizer front diners can choose between crispy fried tofu. egg rolls, crab rangoon or fresh spring rolls brimming with with carrots, cucumbers, tofu, bean sprouts and green leaf lettuce. Entree options are diverse as well and feature an array of curry, noodle and rice dishes to suit every taste.

My lunch, including an iced tea and tax, set me back just eleven dollars. Now that’s a delicious week-day deal!
