Did you know the average American throws out 82 pounds of textile waste per year, most of which ends up in landfills and produces toxic greenhouse gasses? This Earth Day, help protect the environmentand help a child by recycling children’s items to Cradles to Crayons Chicago. The local nonprofit’s annual Earth Day Collection drive takes place Saturday, April 27. Twelve pop-up collection sites in Chicago and nearby suburbs makes it easy for families to drop off their donations of new and gently used clothing for children living in low-income situations across the Chicago area.

Most Needed Items:

  • ·        Clothing (sizes newborn to adult medium)
  • ·        Sneakers (sizes newborn to adult size 10)
  • ·        Rain jackets and boots (sizes newborn to adult medium and size 10)
  • ·        Toys (especially ages 0-12months and 10-12 years)
  • ·        Books (especially ages 0-2 years and 11-12 years)
