After just four months on Madison Street, Mi Tierra Nayarit’s final day of steaming seafood was on March 2, coinciding with the Forest Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Andy Sokol, owner and managing broker of Sokol Group, the real estate and business brokerage firm marketing the property, said he did not know why the restaurant is closing. No one from Mi Tierra Nayarit responded to interview requests.
“Madison Street has been having some struggles. There’s a couple other places on the market; we figured let’s give it a whirl again” and put 7230 Madison St. on the market, he said. “We’re excited.”
An updated ad for the restaurant space — which was the longtime home of Skrine Chops and is still owned by Steve Skrine — was placed on the Loopnet real estate site on Feb. 28. Skrine Chops originally tried to sell the space about a year ago.
Now the real estate firm has lowered its asking price to $699,999, down from $850,000 a year prior.
The 3,000-square-foot restaurant features a private room for events upstairs, an outdoor area and a studio apartment. The listing notes the space was completely renovated in 2012. Sokol said Skrine handcrafted all the bars in the place.
Sokol said he plans to start marketing it immediately.
“We figured with the springtime coming, the price reduction, let’s give it another whirl,” Sokol said.
