I am one of the shoppers who visited Oak Park Market not long after it opened, walked through every aisle, and walked out. Three times, in fact, because I wanted to give the store a chance. I told my wife the store wouldn’t last a year.
Why? Because price matters.
All the hand-wringing about alleged lack of public awareness, or supposed unwillingness to travel five blocks, or traitorous failure to support local establishments misses the point.
I would say the same thing to the owners of the Living Fresh store on Roosevelt Road. There’s a reason your store is empty. Non-competitive prices.
