The Counter at Louie’s Grill, 7422 Madison in 1999 was a welcome sight after long time Pete’s Grill closed. Louie and Ellen Politis purchased the diner and opened for business on February 2, 1999, according to the Forest Park Review (February 2, 2000). When they opened, Louie’s Grill had seven booths and twelve counter seats. Their full breakfast menu was enhanced by offering biscuits and gravy. Louie’s is still slinging hash for a local crowd, two decades later.
