Oak Park police have arrested three juveniles from Chicago and charged them with an armed carjacking that took place in the 800 block of North Boulevard at 6 p.m. on Feb. 4.

A River Forest man was entering his parked vehicle, when the three juveniles allegedly approached him and one placed a hard object against his back.

The offender implied it was a handgun, according to a police press release, and demanded the victim’s keys, wallet and cell phone. The victim complied and the juveniles fled in the vehicle. They were later spotted by an Oak Park police officer as the vehicle sped east from Oak Park Avenue on Washington Boulevard.

The stolen vehicle struck another vehicle at the intersection of Washington and Ridgeland Avenue and the three juveniles fled on foot before being apprehended in the vicinity of the crash. No injuries were reported.
