I really appreciated the data presented in Bob Calin-Jageman’s comments in last week’s Journal. While information has been presented on both sides of the road diet debate, whatever happened to common sense? All one has to do is observe the congestion at various times of the day at eastbound Madison and Austin, westbound Madison and Harlem, and any direction at the Oak Park Avenue intersection, to realize this is a bad idea. Basically, this is the latest “trend,” similar to the ineffective street malls of the past. We know how well that worked on Marion Street.
