They’re baaaack! This time they want to build a 28-story luxury high-rise on Lake Street.
We’ve seen it all before. They’ll cozy up to their supporters on the OPEDC, the CRC, and the OPBOT, who will tell us it’s a private deal and that we are being unfair to our future neighbors (while the project receives public concessions).
No one will mention the Aug. 5, 2016 Wednesday Journal article chronicling how this same company tried to squeeze an extra $100K from the TIF funds but reversed course after it was proven the request was based on a lie. Afterward, they tried to convince us they were doing us a favor by withdrawing the $100K request to “preserve their relationship with the (Oak Park) community.” Okey Doke, folks.
