John F. “Jack” Hogan, 78, of Oak Park, died on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018. Born on June 29, 1940 in Akron, Ohio, he spent his childhood in Palatine and went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University, later receiving a MBA from the University of Chicago. He had a long career in banking operations and was a banking consultant. He loved traveling to many places in the U.S. and overseas.
A Renaissance man at heart, he loved music, even performing as a jazz drummer. He also loved cooking and was a grill master and gourmet cook upon his retirement and was a longtime active member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.
Jack Hogan was the husband of Sonja Rae for 42 years; the father of Julie (Allison) Hogan and Steve (Angie) Hogan and the stepfather of Scott (Karen) Ward, Derek Ward and Jason Ward; grandfather of Anderson, Blakely, Mark and Heather; brother of Michael (Kathy) Hogan; and the uncle of many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 2335 N. Orchard St. in Chicago, followed by interment. Arrangements were handled by Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 708-383-3191 or www.drechslerbrownwilliams.com.
