The Oak Park Farmers’ Market, offering high quality, locally-grown produce, is held in the Pilgrim Church Parking lot at 460 Lake St. from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through October.

Farmers Market Manager, Colleen McNichols, is looking ahead and shared some tips and updates with Oak Park Eats about the next Farmers Market:

This Saturday is all about our annual Corn Roast fundraiser for the market (so please bring cash-$2.00 an ear). We are using all compostable materials, so be sure to compost the cobs and wrappers and take-away bags! Corn is ready to eat from about 8:30am until 12:30pm—unless we run out first.

The following OPFM Vendors are donating the sweet corn for the roast:

  • Genesis Growers (IL)
  • Geneva Lakes Produce (WI and IL)
  • Smits “The Farm” (IL)
  • Nichols Farm and Orchard (IL)

And this year we feature Summer Butter from Nordic Creamery!

VENDOR UPDATES:

Genesis Growers (Organic): Although thieves picked many of their organic watermelon and cantaloupes from their field in the middle of the night, they will try to bring what they can this week. Also, they are offering their first tomatillos, poplano peppers. And baby greens and carrots are back.

Katic Breads: Specialty Bread: Deli Rye AND Specialty Croissant: Caramel-Hazelnut

Geneva Lakes Produce:The first shelling beans are here and eggplant and, of course, more watermelon.

Nichols Farm and Orchard: First summer apples; Zeststar and Tydeman’s Red and loads more Mirai sweet corn.

Brunkow Cheese: Fire Roasted Hatch Chile Baked Cheese is new this week (featuring the renown Hatch Chile Pepper from Hatch Valley, New Mexico).  Bakedcheeshaus/Brunkow makes it seasonally when the Hatch harvest arrives.  They will offer it for the next month or so.

Hardin Farm:The first juicy Shiro plums are here.

Dennanne Apiaries/Three Bees Honey: Aside from their raw unheated local honey, they are offering their best-selling salve for aches and pains. This herbal infusion is completely natural and safe to use. Ask beekeeper Konni about all the ways honey can improve your life.
