William R. O’Toole, 79, of River Forest, died on June 10, 2018. Born on Feb. 4, 1939, he began his career at Merchants National Bank in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After six years he moved to Chicago to become an Institutional Bond Salesman for Bache & Company. Later, he became a vice president with Don Howard & Company, an executive search firm, opening their Chicago office. Later, he managed the Chicago office of Drake Beam Morin Outplacement Firm.
A very active member of First Baptist Church of Oak Park, he served on the board of trustees and is fondly remembered for performing classical hymns on his harmonica.
Bill O’Toole was the husband of Nancy (nee Zahradnik); the father of Kelly (Frank) Newhouse and Patrick (Julie) O’Toole; the grandfather of Madeline and Vivian Newhouse and Jack and Liam O’Toole; the brother of the late Betty (the late Gilbert) Smith, the late Sara (the late Cleon) Harris, and the late Georgia (Wayne) Adair; and the uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St. in Oak Park. The funeral Service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 15 at Oak Park’s First Baptist Church, 820 Ontario St., with interment at Oakridge Cemetery.
