Oak Park Festival Theatre, which holds outdoor theater performances every summer in Austin Gardens, has launched the Galen Gockel Internship Fund for theater students participating in their summer program.
According to their press release, each year 10-15 theater students travel from across the country to take part in the program.
“These theater arts majors and recent college graduates join us to learn firsthand about working for a professional outdoor theater company,” the press release notes.
The internship fund earmarks stipends for the interns. It is named after Gockel, who is a former village trustee and longtime volunteer with Festival Theatre who provided funds for the program’s stipend.
