Alcuin Montessori families gathered to honor two long-time teachers, Margaret Combs and Jamie Sloan, at their end-of-year picnic at Maple Park on Wednesday, June 6.  Margaret has spent the past 14 years as a beloved Alcuin teacher, in addition to serving as a teacher trainer, consultant, and instructional guide for several well-known Montessori training institutions. Educating adults in the Montessori community has become her passion and driving force; while Margaret will be greatly missed, she will continue to touch the lives of so many.

Jamie will be starting an incredible new adventure at an international school in Qingdao China, where she has accepted the position of Montessori elementary coordinator.  Jamie joined the Alcuin community in 1994, having served in various capacities throughout the years as a parent, Board member, and teacher.  Those in Jamie’s classes were so lucky to have experienced her kindness, wisdom, and positive approach to all that life brings.  In true Alcuin fashion, the community came together to shower Margaret and Jamie with love, best wishes for the future, and, of course, a little cake.
