Ever been surprised by seeing everyday people, sometimes people you know, showing musical talent you didn’t know they had? How about talent that isn’t just your casual, sit-around-at-the-party, group-singing sort? The sort that makes you say, “Geez. These people are really good!”

This coming Saturday, you can get that at Unity Temple’s Spring Music Festival. Musicians of all ages will sing — alone and in groups — and play in various combinations. They will soothe you, amuse you, and rock you out. You will have as much fun hearing and seeing what they do as they will have playing and singing.

It’s a great evening’s entertainment for $15 ($5 youth admission). And you’ll be helping to fund Unity Temple’s Music Scholarship Program, which awards annual $1,000 professional vocal training scholarships to the three Chicago Public Schools singers who win a juried competition each March.

Not only that — if you haven’t been inside Unity Temple, 875 Lake St., since it re-opened after a complete restoration, here’s your chance.

It all happens this Saturday, April 28, 7-10 p.m. You can purchase tickets at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3374438 or just show up at the door. We’d love to see you.
