It’s been a few months since the Village of Oak Park directed the dog-loving watering hole, Beer Shop, 1026 North Blvd., to temporarily end its practice of allowing its four-legged friends into the establishment.

A resident complaint in January about mutts in the bar — a village ordinance prohibits the practice — triggered a review by the Oak Park Board of Health.

Beer Shop and its patrons will get their day in court on Tuesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. at Oak Park Village Hall, 123 Madison St., and Beer Shop is calling on customers to send their support.

The business recently posted an invite to the event on Facebook and encouraged patrons to send their testimony to info@beeshophq.com.

The post includes a number of pictures — presumably taken before the ban — of happy beer drinkers with their pups. “We would love to have more moments like the ones we’ve pictured here,” the post states.
