After months of searching, Trinity High School has named Dr. Corinne Lally Benedetto as president of the college prep school in River Forest. Benedetto succeeds longtime President Sister Michelle Germanson, who will remain on at Trinity as president emerita and director of alumni relations.
Benedetto, a 1978 Trinity graduate, will assume the role of president-elect on Jan. 22, and transition to the role permanently on July 1. She currently serves as interim dean of De Paul University’s School for New Learning, where she is responsible for fiscal management, workforce development and alumni relations.
“I’m thrilled and grateful to return to Trinity High School and to lead the school into its next 100 years of educating young women,” Benedetto said in a statement. “Trinity has played a pivotal role in my personal life and professional career, and I’m looking forward to ensuring future generations will also benefit from the school’s exceptional academic standards and Catholic values.”
Prior to her time as interim dean, Benedetto served as associate dean of operations and enrollment management at DePaul, as well as associate dean for the college’s undergraduate programs.
She holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Chicago, where she also earned a masters of arts in sociology. She received a bachelor’s degree in history, sociology and American studies from Dominican University in River Forest.
Now an Aurora resident, Benedetto once attended St. Giles Elementary School in Oak Park.
“The selection committee was very impressed with her academic background, strategic thinking and enrollment knowledge,” Walter Healy, chair of Trinity’s board of directors, said in a statement. “We are confident that Dr. Benedetto, with her extensive experience, will help shape an even stronger Trinity as we enter our second century of educating young women.”
