A high-ranking administrator for Oak Park Elementary Schools District 97 announced her resignation last week. During a meeting on Dec. 15, the D97 school board accepted the resignation of Dr. Alicia Evans, the district’s assistant superintendent of finance and operations.

Evans will take a position as assistant superintendent of business operations in a school district in the south suburbs. At Evans’ request, D97 officials did not release the name of the south suburban district.

Evans was hired at D97 a year ago March in a position that paid a starting salary of roughly $148,000. She replaced Therese O’Neill, who retired in 2016 after serving eight years in the position.

In a statement released on Dec. 15, Supt. Carol Kelley said the search for Evans’ replacement has already started. The district will soon be retaining an executive search firm to facilitate the search process.

“Alicia Evans has been a vital and valuable member of our district for the past two years,” Kelley said. “Her leadership was particularly critical to the successful passage of our recent referenda, and her knowledge and expertise have helped strengthen our short- and long-term financial future. I thank her for her dedicated service during her time here, and wish her all the best in her new position.”
