St. Vincent Ferrer School, located at 1515 Lathrop Ave. in River Forest, will get a new principal starting July 1. John Glimco, 56, will replace Charles Terry at the helm of SVF. Terry had served in the role for six years.
“During those six years, total school enrollment has increased by over 90 students,” according to a May 19 statement issued by the school.
“Technology grew exponentially with the adoption of PowerSchool, the installation of Smart Boards in each classroom, use of iPads from pre-school 3 to eighth grade, and the purchase of e-textbooks to re
place outdated instructional materials.”
Glimco currently serves as principal at Pleasantdale Middle School in Burr Ridge and is a member of the Illinois Principal Association’s board of directors. Glimco has a master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University.
“There has always been an element missing [in my career], and that is the faith-based dynamic that can only be realized through a school that sets the teachings and life of Jesus Christ at the center of my career,”
Glimco wrote in an acceptance letter to Fr. Tom McDermott, the pastor of St. Vincent.
