“Preservation,” “energy efficient,” “clean air,” and “bicycle friendly” are among the topics that have emblazoned the backdrop of Oak Park Village Hall’s Council Chambers for years — a reminder to trustees of the village’s commitment to the environment.
But the word cluster image on the wall behind trustees was noticeably absent at Monday night’s village hall meeting where newly elected trustees were sworn in. Rather, trustees took the oath of office against a white backdrop.
Village Manager Cara Pavlicek said after the meeting that the paint job was part of an overall renovation of the chamber that is still in process. New carpet already has been installed in the chamber, she said, and new chairs for trustees and cushions for gallery seating are coming soon.
The change to the backdrop will be followed by the installation of sound-absorbing foam paneling to improve the acoustics of the chamber, Pavlicek said.
