The Fenwick High Schooll boys basketball team gradually pulled away from visiting Riverside-Brookfield in a non-conference game last weekend. Leading 36-26 at halftime, the Friars outscored the Bulldogs 27-12 in the third quarter and never looked back en route to a suprisingly lopsided 89-58 victory.

Prior to their third quarter, the Friars showed signs of breaking away from the Bulldogs with an 11-2 run to open the second quarter. Junior guard AJ Nixon scored 11 points and Junior forward Mike O”Laughlin added four points during the spurt.

AJ Nixon finished with 16 points for Fenwick, with O’Laughlin (13 points), Jamal Nixon (10 points) and Damari Nixon (9 points) also powering the offense. Fenwick (19-4) also employed a 1-3-1 halfcourt defense that caused problems for RBHS.

Senior star guard Jalen Clanton led the Bulldogs with 19 points. Senior swingman Jalen Brooks chipped in 12 points and five rebounds, while junior Drew Pitlik had nine points for RBHS (8-13).
