Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200 officials are ramping up their community outreach efforts ahead of the Nov. 8 referendum, which will ask voters for approval to partially fund an estimated $44.5 million, five-year facilities plan, which includes a new pool, by issuing up to $25 million in bonds.

The plan, approved unanimously by the D200 school board in August, includes the construction of a 40-meter swimming pool, a new parking garage, and expanded and renovated performing arts spaces, among other capital projects.

Six public meetings, including a joint board meeting with River Forest taxing bodies, are scheduled to take place in the next two weeks. In addition, the district has created a new FAQ page to address common questions and concerns residents may have about the upcoming referendum.

The FAQ page includes cost comparisons between the approved plan and plans that were previously considered by the board. The page also addresses the potential for community use of the pool, among other issues. To access the page, http://www.oprfhs.org/facilities/NEW-FAQ-Oct-2016.cfm.

Between Oct. 17 and 24, the district will host four public meetings regarding the referendum at the high school, located at 201 N. Scoville Ave.

The joint board meeting with River Forest taxing districts regarding the referendum will take place on Oct. 19 inside of the Lincoln School auditorium, 511 Park Ave. And an Oct. 24 informational meeting will be hosted at Pleasant Home, 217 Home Ave., in Oak Park.
